A great turnout for Sunday’s Harvest Festival. Thank you to everyone who donated items. These are on their way to Tulips and families who will benefit.
Well known teacher Elizabeth Sharp Notley has passed away.
A Memorial Service for her will be held at St Andrew’s Church on Saturday 12th October at 11am.
May she rest in peace.
This week we have been in touch with some of the clergy and young leaders from Jerusalem Diocese, who were on the summer school in Famagusta and here with us at St Andrew’s just a few weeks ago.
Since they returned home, life has been very difficult for them and their churches and communities in Nazareth, Jerusalem and Nablus, in the West Bank.
Conflict is all around them and Tuesday night was particularly hard.
Despite everything, they are working hard to keep the churches open and run regular activities.
On Sunday 6th, when we celebrate Harvest Festival, they will be holding their ‘Thanksgiving’ Services – even if people cannot get to them.
Our friends in Jerusalem Diocese need, and very much appreciate, our support and prayers as they go through these terrifying and uncertain times.
On Tuesday night, Bishop Sean shared this:
Please pray with us tonight for our brothers and sisters in the Diocese of Jerusalem and for all the people of this region: for protection and peace; for de-escalation and ceasefire; for humanitarian and medical teams; for generosity and compassion.
Keep watch, dear Lord,
with those who wake, or watch, or weep this night,
and give your angels charge over those who sleep.
Tend the sick,
give rest to the weary,
sustain the dying,
calm the suffering,
and pity the distressed;
all for your love’s sake, O Christ our Redeemer. Amen.
Please bring donations of non-perishable goods. These will be donated to Tulips/Help Those With Cancer Association.
If you are able to drop donations in at the church on Saturday morning (10-12) that would be very helpful.
Many thanks, in advance, for your generosity.
Organist and Choirmaster Geoff Weaver will be conducting St Andrew’s Singers in a concert in the church at 7pm on Tuesday 22nd October.
All proceeds will go to Tulips/Help Those With Cancer Association. Suggested minimum donation 250TL – pay on the door (includes refreshments)
To avoid disappointment, please email newsstandrews1913@gmail.com to reserve your seat. All welcome!
It was wonderful to welcome Bishop Michael Lewis back to St. Andrew’s yesterday – and to hear another of his very thought-provoking sermons.
Bishop Michael preached to a full house, including visitors from many parts of the world. It was a privilege to worship and share fellowship with such a warm and diverse group of people.
We are honoured that Bishop Michael, former Bishop of the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf and Archbishop of the Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East, will be preaching at St. Andrew’s this Sunday 29th September.
This will be Bishop Michael’s first visit to St. Andrew’s since his retirement in June 2023 and we very much look forward to welcoming him back to our church.
In order to decorate the church ahead of the HARVEST FESTIVAL SERVICE, it would be greatly appreciated if donations (non-perishable items) could please be brought in advance, if possible.
If you are able to, please bring items for donation to church on either
Thank you so much. All donations will be given to TULIPS to support families. www.tulips-trnc.com
